Delicious Swatow of Toa Payoh

仙头海鲜 (Swatow Seafood Restaurant) was where I enjoyed my 4th Lo Hei of the dragon year!

This Teochew restaurant had a rather young history of less than 2 years and is located just on top of Shop & Save at Blk 181 Lorong 4 Toa Payoh. This restaurant space used to be owned by Fortunate Restaurant 幸福酒樓.

Warning to drivers, the multi-level carpark is quite a nightmare, better luck at the nearby HDB carparks just behind shophouses.

As all Lo Hei, the meal started with our Yu Sheng. The portion was generous & fresh. The sauce was not overly sweet or overpowering & each bite was a refreshing crunch. The salmon slices were rather elusive though… in fact I can’t recall if I have tasted one.

Double-boiled Shark’s Fin with Shark’s Bone Cartilage & Chicken 大展宏图 was up next. Yes, I am a supporter of shark fins because it just taste so good… Of course it’s cruel & all but as with pigs and fowls, sharks can be reared and harvest the same way. If you are ok with pigs & fowls, why the special concern for sharks?

The treatment was just right & the soup taste heavenly with chicken & crabmeat… wished I could have a second helping. Slurp slurp

嘻哈大笑(白灼鲜虾) Poach Live Prawns with Chinese Wine were served in their naturally gorgeous colors with minimal deco. From the texture of the prawn meat, you can immediate tell their freshness. Goes wonderful with the light soy sauce.

Similar to the prawns, presentation for 鸿运当头 steamed fish was basic. Meat was succulent, tasty and sweet.

The sea cucumber with broccoli was a good combination of crunchy & chewy morsels in thick oyster sauce.

好市发财(蚝市发菜八宝菜) Braised Eight Treasure Vegetable with Dried Oyster was rather normal. Recommend to free up your stomach for better dishes.

After 迎春接福(生炒腊味荷叶饭) Fragrant Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf was served to fill us up, Glutinous Dumpling with Red Bean Paste became the sweet ending for our meal.

Besides lunch & dinner menus, Swatow’s Tim Sum 点心 menu looks pretty decent too.
